Each corner tells a story of the town's illustrious past.  The Forbes and District Historical Society Museum built circa 1878. Displays items pertaining to all facets of the history of Forbes.  Stroll through Forbes' streets and see architecture, from a bygone era. Keep an eye out for familiar landmarks from the movie "The Dish," 
 

The 'Sculpture Down the Lachlan'  Designed to showcase the raw, unmanicured beauty of the rural landscape in which are larger-than-life sculpture installations. Featuring over twenty sculptures by some of Australia’s leading creatives. set permanently, on an  inland public art trail stretching 100 kilometres between Forbes and Condobolin NSW, along the meandering Lachlan River. Amazing art embedded in nature.

Visit the Forbes Cemetery to find the final resting places of the infamous bushranger, Ben Hall, who was shot dead just west of Forbes four days before his 28th birthday, Kate Foster (born Catherine Ada Kelly) - sister of Ned Kelly, also of the bush ranging "fame" - who drowned in the Forbes lake in 1898 (aged 35 years), and Rebecca Shield - great grandniece of Capt. James Cook - who, unlike Ben and Kate, died at the ripe old age of 84 years and whom little is known, among others of note.

Gear up for an enchanting family evening at ChillFest, the perfect kickoff to Forbes' frost and fire. Glide and twirl on a synthetic ice-skating rink beneath the stars, indulge in delightful treats from food stalls, and end the night watching a family movie in the youth and community centre. But that's not all! ChillFest brings extra delights with a snowcone machine, an inflatable snow globe to capture those picture-perfect moments, and a DJ to keep the good vibes flowing.
Be sure to catch the ChillFest movie night – a snug experience in the Youth and Community Centre, complete with a snowcone in hand, creating cherished memories for families and friends alike.

Embark on a warming winter adventure at Forbes' annual Frost and Fire event.
Cosy up by toasty fire buckets, indulge in hearty treats from food trucks, and savour boutique brews while being serenaded by internationally recognised Australian music acts on the main stage, that include headline act Vera Blue.

The excitement doesn't stop there! Immerse yourself in live entertainment, including Wiradjuri cultural performances and the stunning spectacle of our Frost and Fire effigy bonfires. Frost and Fire is an all-age event. Children will find endless entertainment options, including bubble magic, fire performers and the enchanting ice queen on stilts. As the night builds toward its peak, a spectacular display of fireworks will light up the sky, introducing the main headliner of the night.

Enjoy the event worry-free with complimentary shuttle buses running throughout the night, along with convenient $10 parking and disabled access for everyone to be part of the magic.

Grazing Down the Lachlan returns to Forbes NSW. This multi-award winning foodie adventure is set alongside the picturesque Lachlan River and celebrates produce native to the Central West NSW region, prepared by local restaurateurs and caterers.
‘Grazers’ are free to wander along the designated corridor of the nine-mile reserve between six stations offering delicious food with a matched beverage. What makes this dining experience truly unique is the underlying commitment to delivering a no-waste, environmentally responsible event.

Along Templar Street patrons will feast on the delights of a three-course dinner, local and regional wines, boutique beer, cider, soft drinks and water. Up to 350 people will be seated in groups around high bar tables, lovely lounges, round a-squat tables or long tables. Patrons will be encouraged to meet new friends and gather with old mates in this wonderful casual environment.

Tables will be covered with crisp tablecloths or left rustic and decorated with pots, native greenery and fairy lights. Gather near the bars and enjoy a lounge area or sit on a high bar stool. The theme for the event is based around local and regional products and produce, local businesses, people and summer. The evening will include a meet and greet with live entertainment by Gabe's Music.
